Top 5 creepiest real stories behind popular Disney Fairy Tale movies. Turns out that some of your Disney favorites are based on VERY creepy fairy tales! In this video, we discover the real stories behind popular Disney movies. From Frozen and The Little Mermaid to Beauty and the Beast, the dark Disney creative team chooses some very strange fairy tales to base their films on. For even more, check out the Top 5 Creepy Disney Movie Secrets : Dark Hidden Disney Moments https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kmEOQbXdPfU The Little Mermaid is a typical heart-warming, happy ending Disney fairytale movie. But the real story is anything BUT happy. In the real fairytale , Ariel the little mermaid loses her tongue, and then after being turned from a mermaid into a human, every step she takes on her new legs feels like walking on broken glass. And unlike the Disney version, she DOESN'T get her Prince. In Disney's Sleeping Beauty, the Princess Aurora meets her Prince Charming, then is put into a deep sleep due to a curse. But later she's awakened by the kiss of her Prince. In the somewhat scary fairy tale version, there's no Prince Charming, Sleeping Beauty... a married King actually finds Sleeping Beauty and impregnates her. She only wakes up after giving birth, and is then almost burned to death by the King's angry wife. Frozen is also based on a very dark fairy tale. In the Disney movie we see Princess Elsa and her sister Anna. Princess Elsa has a bit of a freak out over her powers and does a few questionable things, but in the end, everything works out and she returns to the kingdom. Well in the REAL fairy tale, Princess Elsa is actually "The Evil Snow Queen" who kidnaps a small boy from his family. The real story of Cinderella is pretty similar to the Disney film, but with a few grisly changes. Cinderella's evil stepsisters actually cut off parts of their feet to try to fit into the glass slipper! And then their eyes get pecked out by birds at Cinderella's wedding! The Disney version of Beauty and Beast also had ALOT of changes from the original fairy tale. In the original story the Beast does not treat the Beauty/Belle badly at all, nor does he have a bad temper. Belle is treated like a queen by the Beast, but just can't see past his physical appearance. Also, unlike the Disney Beauty & Beast, Beauty has 2 evil sisters who plot to get the Beast to eat her! But Beauty survives to become Queen Belle.

Jack and the Beanstalk Once upon a time there was a boy named Jack who lived with his poor widowed mother. They had sold almost everything they owned to buy food. When their last cow stopped giving milk, Jack’s mother sent him to town to sell it. On the way to town Jack met a strange fellow who told him stories of magic beans. “Where can I buy some of these magic beans for my mother?” asked Jack. “I have the last five magic beans and I will sell them to you because you are a good boy,” the strange man smiled at Jack. “Well I have nothing but our old cow and we need the money I would get by selling her for food.” The man replied, “Trust me, my boy, these beans will bring you food and fortune and your mother will be proud.” Jack hesitated but finally traded the cow for the beans. When Jack returned home his mother was furious and threw the beans out the kitchen window crying. Jack went to bed that night sad and hungry. He woke the next morning to find a huge beanstalk growing in the garden. “The beans really are magic!” he cried. Jack saw that stalk reached the clouds. He remembered stories about the clouds containing gold and started climbing the stalk to see what he could find. He climbed and climbed. When he got to the top he saw a huge castle and headed for it. The door was so big that Jack could crawl beneath it. Once inside he saw a giant man eating his dinner. When the giant was finished he called his servant to bring him his bag of gold coins. While counting his money the giant became drowsy and fell asleep. Jack crept up to the giant and stole his bag of gold. He struggled down the beanstalk with his money and when got to the bottom he called for his mother. Jack’s mother was very happy because this money was the same money that the giant had stolen from Jack’s father many years ago. But she was also afraid she knew how dangerous the giant was and made Jack promise he would never go back. While Jack did promise, after awhile the money began to run out. Jack began to wonder if he would find anything else in the castle. Once again, Jack decided he would go back up the beanstalk and back to the castle. Once again he reached the castle and climbed under the castle door. And once again he found the giant eating dinner at his table. When he was finished this time however the giant called for his magic hen. Jack was amazed when he saw the hen lay an egg of pure gold. While the giant was watching the hen he again became drowsy and fell asleep. Jack crept silently to the table and grabbed the hen. When he returned home his mother was very angry that Jack had gone back to the castle. She grabbed Jack’s axe intent on cutting the beanstalk down. Jack begged her not to and showed her how hen that could lay golden eggs. Jack’s mother put the axe down and watched with delight as the hen layed one beautiful golden egg after another. After awhile Jack’s curiosity got the better of him and he once again thought about what else he could find he in the castle. Once again, Jack decided he would go back up the beanstalk and back to the castle. Once again he reached the castle and climbed under the castle door. And once again he found the giant eating dinner at his table. When he was finished this time however the giant called for his magic harp. Jack watched as the harp began to play beautiful music all by itself. The music was so beautiful that before long the lazy giant was once again fast asleep. Jack crept silently to the table. But as soon as Jack picked up the harp it began playing very loudly in his strange hands and the giant awoke. We know folklore goes back hundreds of years, but thanks to a new study using biological research methods, we now know it’s even older than that. Learn more at HowStuffWorks.com: http://people.howstuffworks.com/10-da... Share on Facebook: https://goo.gl/KpLq1f Share on Twitter: https://goo.gl/fB6inX Subscribe: http://goo.gl/ZYI7Gt Visit our site: http://www.brainstuffshow.com They’ve been handed down from generation to generation in the form of bedtime stories, books, and movies, so we all have a passing experience with them. Because of this, fairy tales also reflect our cultural history. They showcase what we think about good and evil, morality and punishment. But how old are they? Turns out, a lot older than we thought. By thousands of years! One of the most famous people to speculate on the origin of fairy tales was Wilhelm Grimm of the Brothers Grimm. You know, the one that looks like Matt Damon? He argued that the folk tales he and his brother compiled were actually part of ancient oral traditions that stretched from Scandinavia to South Asia! Grimm thought these stories were thousands of years old, and marked the beginning of Indo-European language. Since then, studying folklore has become a full-time job in academia. Some folklorists disagreed with Grimm. They said that since there was little evidence to prove fairy tales’ existence as oral tradition, they probably were only recently invented along with other printed literature. That was… until anthropologist Jamie Tehrani and folklorist Sara Graça da Silva dropped some science on them in a breakthrough article in the journal “Royal Society Open Science”. They used tools usually reserved for evolutionary biologists, such as phylogenetic methods that examine the fairy tales’ relationships with population histories, geographical distances and linguistic patterns. The researchers also traced the tales along a “tree” of Indo-European languages to see how far back they went. Using a massive classification of folk tales called the “Aarne Thompson Uther Index,” they studied common links between 275 stories in the group known as “Tales of Magic.” They focused on these stories featuring the supernatural, because they represented the largest group and included the tales with the most commonly debated origins. And it worked! They discovered that at least 76 of these fairy tales were being told before English, French or Italian even existed as languages. “Little Red Riding Hood” originated around 2,000 years ago between Europe and the Middle East. “Jack and the Beanstalk” (grouped in with a series of tales known as “The Boy Who Stole Ogre’s Treasure”) is 5,000 years old. “Beauty and the Beast” and “The Name of the Supernatural Helper” (aka “Rumplestiltskin”) may have first been written down in the 17th and 18th centuries, but they’re between 2,500 and 6,000 years old! But what was the oldest fairy tale they found? A story called “The Smith and the Devil,” dating back at least 6,000 years to the Bronze Age, predating the oldest known ancestor of Indo-European languages. It goes something like this: Once upon a time, a blacksmith sells his soul to an evil supernatural being in exchange for the ability to weld any materials together. Then he uses this skill to leash that darn Devil to an immovable object and get outta the deal! And all this time you thought that was the plot of Tenacious D’s “The Pick of Destiny.” What’s even more important is that this discovery could settle a debate about the origin of Indo-European languages. One hypothesis had these languages dating back 9,000 years to the region that’s now Turkey, but that population was neolithic farmers who hadn’t even invented metallurgy yet. Tehrani and da Silva speculate that, more likely, another idea is correct: Those languages originated 5 to 6,000 years ago in the steppes of Russia. Rumpelstiltskin | Rapunzel - English Fairy Tales RAPUNZEL In a land far away, lived a poor farmer and his wife. One day, they tried to pluck fruits from their neighbour’s garden. But their neighbour was actually an old, wicked witch. She screamed, “How dare you steal from my garden! I’ll turn you both into rats!” The couple trembled with fear. Finally, the witch said, “Very well, I’ll let you go. But you have to give me your first child.” They were so scared, that they immediately agreed and fled. Every day, the witch used to come to the foot of the tower and call, “Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair!” She then used to let her long plait fall out the window, and the witch used to hold onto it and climb up.One day, a prince who was passing by, hid behind the trees and watched the witch. As soon as she left, he too decided to try. “Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair”, he cried and climbed up into her room. She was stunned to see the prince. She had never before seen anybody so handsome. The prince too fell in love with her. They began to secretly meet everyday after the witch left. One day however, by mistake, Rapunzel said to the witch, “My, you are so much heavier than my prince!” The witch realized what has been going on. She screamed and shouted in anger. She cut off her hair and sent her off deep into the forest. That day, when the prince came, he found the witch waiting for him at the top of the tower. She cursed and screamed some more, before casting a spell on him, that made the prince lose his sight. The prince, now blind and broken hearted, wandered through the forests. Many days later, Rapunzel found him wounded among the trees. She began to cry at the sorry sight of her prince. But as soon as her tears fell on him, his wounds healed, and his eyesight returned! The first thing the prince saw was his beloved. They were overjoyed to find each other again. They went away to his kingdom, and lived happily ever after, far away from the wicked witch. RUMPELSTILTSKIN Once there was a poor miller who had a very beautiful daughter. One day, he went to the king’s court and claimed that his daughter could spin straw into gold. The king ordered the miller’s daughter to come to the palace. He took her to a room full of straw and said to her, “You must spin all this straw into gold tonight, or you shall die!” The miller’s daughter was locked in the room alone. She did not know what to do and began to cry. Suddenly, a dwarf came out of nowhere and asked her, “Why are you crying?” When she told him the story, he said, “Don’t worry, I will spin the straw into gold, but what will you give me in return?” “I will give you my necklace!” she promised. The dwarf spun all the straw into gold. The third morning, the king was very happy to see the room full of gold. He took her to the biggest room filled with straw and said, “If you spin all this straw into gold, you shall become my wife!” The girl was locked up and once again, she began to cry. This time, when the little man came to her, she said, “I do not have anything to give you, sir! What will I do?” He said, “Promise me that you will give me your first born child when you become the queen!” The girl agreed to do so, because she was not expecting to become the king’s wife. The tiny man spun all the straw into gold in the night. The next day, the king was pleased to see the gold. He married the girl and soon they had a baby. On the third day, one of the queen’s servants went into the forest to find the little man. Deep in the woods, the servant found him dancing and singing happily in front of a fire. He sang, “Today I bake, tomorrow I brew, the next I’ll have the young queen’s child. Ha, glad am I that no one knew, that Rumpelstiltskin I am styled!” The servant went back to the palace and told the queen the name of the dwarf. That night, when the little man carne to the queen, she was already prepared. The tiny man challenged, “Do you give up? Shall I take your child away?” The queen smiled and replied, “Is your name Harry? Is it Conrad? Perhaps it is Rumpelstiltskin!” Hearing his name, the tiny man screamed, “How could you possibly know my name?” Saying this, he ran away, deep into the forest never to be seen again.

The little Match Girl is a short story by Danish poet and author Hans Christian Andersen. The story, about a dying child's dreams and hope. Plot Summary: On a cold New Year's Eve, a poor young girl tries to sell matches in the street. She is already shivering from cold and early hypothermia, and she is walking barefoot having lost her shoes.[1] Still, she is too afraid to go home, because her father will beat her for not selling any matches, and also as the cracks in the house can't keep out the cold wind. The girl takes shelters in a nook or alley and sits down.[2] The girl lights the matches to warm herself. In their glow she sees several lovely visions, including a Christmas tree and a holiday feast. The girl looks skyward and sees a shooting star; she then remembers her dead grandmother saying that such a falling star means someone is dying and is going to go to Heaven. As she lights the next match, she sees a vision of her grandmother, the only person to have treated her with love and kindness. She strikes one match after another to keep the vision of her grandmother alive for as long as she can. After running out of matches the child dies, and her grandmother carries her soul to Heaven. The next morning, passers-by find the child dead in the nook, frozen with a smile on her face, and guess the reason for the burnt-out matches beside her. They feel pity for her, although they had not shown kindness to her before her death. They have no way of knowing about the wonderful visions she saw before her death or how gloriously she and her grandmother are now celebrating the New Year in Heaven.
